good things in 2021

road trips, when the sun shines on your face, your hair flies in the wind and you have nothing but time and possibilities ahead of you. the anticipation of a new adventure.

reunions with long-distance besties. reminders of the person you used to be. realizing that there’s still so much of that person in you.

waking up next to somebody who’s holding you tight. coffee in bed on a lazy sunday morning. or any day, really. tangerine skies and the sunrise painting everything orange. moon-lit nights and starry skies that make you feel so insignificant, yet so grateful to be alive in this universe you can’t quite wrap your head around.

moving on from situations and people. the heavy heart that comes with it because it’s a reminder of how fiercely you love, how fully you commit and how deeply you care. having things and places and people that make saying good-bye to so hard.

plants and the sound they make when swaying in the wind. digging in the dirt with your cousin’s kids, knowing this is exactly where you are supposed to be right now. that feeling of happiness showing up in the smallest of moments.

a perfectly balances bite of pastel de nata, crispy and smooth at the same time. blue nailpolish, because it reminds you of the sea. dirty minds and romantic hearts.

the calmness that comes after a tough decision. august, with its sweet traditions and new adventures. bonfires because they are a reminder that some things will never change. people who hold your hand when you need it the most. co-workers who turn into best friends. women supporting women with such magnitude, it makes you feel invincible.

the moment you finally understand that you are enough and whole just the way you are. yoga and meditation. old friends who know you better than you know yourself and new friends who feel like your souls have met before. black notebooks. rushing down a wooden staircase, a glass of wine in hand, to watch fireworks on the street.

tears, because they’re a testament of your emotions, of being alive. all the tough, sad moments, because they made you learn and grow. laughing with your family. birds chirping. bees humming. all these people you love. life.
