welcome to stories from the balcony.

Hey you,
my name is Kathi and despite the name of this blog, I don’t own a balcony. I do, however, own more plants than an average twenty-something gal living in a shared apartment does. I go crazy whenever I see a dog and have an unhealthy obsession with the tiny country of Estonia. (The most fascinating, beautiful and weird country ever, in case you didn’t know.)
Now you might be a bit confused as to why this blog is titled “Stories from the balcony” when, in fact, there is no balcony to write from.
See, I used to write a lot a couple of years ago. I loved it. It helped me work through things and be creative. It also was a way of sharing my vulnerabilities and struggles with others. Things we should all talk about more, because let’s face it, we all struggle every now and again and we all have our demons to fight. But too often, we think we’re alone in this. Writing was a way for me to connect with others and to understand that I am not alone.
But then life got in the way and I stopped. For the past two years, I kept saying I loved writing and that I wanted to start again. The more I said I wanted to, the harder it got.
I guess that’s when my wonderful bunch of girls decided that enough is enough. They went online and bought me a URL. This URL. Because “when we see you at your most relaxed self, we see you writing in the middle of your plants, on the balcony you don’t yet own”.
For now, my stories from the balcony are going to be more like stories from the windowsill, but that doesn’t matter. Let’s celebrate life together. Let’s talk about the ups and the downs, about the parts of ourselves we think nobody wants to see. Let’s be vulnerable and feel all the feelings, because this is what life is all about.
So, what are your stories from the balcony, the windowsill, the garden, life? I’d love to know! And can’t wait for the ride!
xx Kathi
